Croatian Design Biennale was opened at Zagreb’s Museum of Arts and Crafts from September 4th to 28th.
Croatian jury members were Vanja Cuculić, Branka Donassy, Tin Kadoić, Igor Kuduz and Tihana Taraba. Joining them are Jan Boelen, Belgian curator and contemporary art and design critic and Armin Vit, graphic designer and publicist from the USA, co-founder of UnderConsideration design studio/publishing house.
The award for life’s work was given to Bogdan Budimirov for his contribution to Croatian design.
Bruketa&Žinić OM group is prevalent in the exhibition with 17 projects. In the Visual Communication category B&Ž was present with bio&bio, Brokula&Ž, Istria Experience, LADO and Theater EXIT posters, Mammogram sees more then the eyes do and Adris Foundation Monograph. Two packaging designs were also displayed: Sela Z and Valtida Piccola.
In the Product design category Brigada showcased its Bloom line of furniture, and in the Spatial and Graphic Interventions category they displayed the exhibition design The Culture of Smoking and the agency’s office space.
Brlog presented their web designs in the Interaction Design category, O.N.E., 5/4 and Brokula&Ž, and the Lost Page in Concepts category. Also in Concepts a joint project by B&Z and Brigada for UNICEF – Put yourself in their shoes was be displayed.
