Davor Bruketa has become the first Croatian designer to be included in the Red Dot Design Diary. This special publication is released annually by the organizers of the global Red Dot Design Award. The publication is designed to combine practical information and inspiration for designers, as well as professionals connected to design across various industries. It also includes a list of the most influential contemporary designers from different generations, such as Alvar Aalto, Ron Arad, Neville Brody, Stefan Sagmeister, Irma Boom, and many others.
Davor Bruketa’s inclusion in the Red Dot Design Diary is a testament to his long-standing contribution to the industry, but it also places Croatia on the global map of creative talent. Over his 30-year career, Bruketa has served as the creative director on 29 projects that have won Red Dot awards, three of which received the Best of the Best, the highest honor from this institution.
“It’s truly an honor to be ‘date by date’ with legends of design, but this recognition primarily reflects the collective effort and creativity of our team. I’m proud that we can show that ideas from Croatia are recognized on a global level. I hope this will inspire other designers to believe in their visions and continue creating with enthusiasm,” said Davor Bruketa.
The Red Dot award was established in 1955 in Germany and today represents one of the most prestigious accolades in the design industry. It celebrates excellence in product design, communication design, and conceptual design, and is organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. Over the decades, Red Dot has become a driver of innovation across various industries, from technology and architecture to fashion and branding, promoting design as a significant force for cultural and economic progress.
The agency Bruketa&Žinić&Grey won its first Red Dot – Best of the Best award in 2007 for the innovative annual report for Podravka titled A fragment from the eternal debate about the heart. The concept of the report emphasized the importance of emotions in business. The book also featured an autobiographical story by Ante Tomić, showcasing the connection between Podravka’s products and personal childhood memories. This approach garnered global attention and became an example of creative excellence.
In its 30 years of existence, the agency Bruketa&Žinić&Grey has won 30 Red Dot awards, including four Best of the Best, the highest number in the region.
