Croatian luxury candles side by side with Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga

Scented candles by tennis player Donna Vekić win second place in Dieline Awards, the world’s leading packaging design competition.

Last night Dieline Awards, the world’s leading packaging design competition, revealed the competition’s winners. The design of luxury interior fragrances by Donna Vekić, DNNA, signed by Bruketa&Žinić&Grey, finished in the runner-up position in the “Luxury” Category, preceded only by Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga.

Scented candles are otherwise Donna’s great passion and her way of coping with the challenges off the court, which is where the idea of signature line of products stems from. It can easily be said that these fragrances carry Donna’s DNA, which is how the brand got its name.

DNNA scented candles were designed to be evocative of tennis – a steel globe can be used as a candle snuffer as well, and the vessels are handmade out of the highest quality Murano glass, blown, heated, cooled and personalized. Scented candles are made out of 100% natural wax produced by bees from the Kopački Rit Nature Park in Croatia, emitting negative ions to purify and improve the air quality. The fragrances were designed by perfumer Arnaud Fourré at the famous perfume creation center in Grasse, France.

Taken together, the prize-winning recipients offer a snapshot of where the packaging industry is heading, not only with bold and innovative designs but with many brands committing to plastic-free materials,“ Dieline reported.

Over the past 12 years Dieline has recognized the world’s best package designs. Dieline online magazine, with over seven million unique pageviews, is the world’s most visited packaging design website. This year the competition received 1700 entries, the most ever submitted in the competition’s history.
