The creative director of Bruketa&Žinić OM marketing agency Davor Bruketa was invited to be a jury member in this year’s Red Dot Design Award competition. This is one of the most respectable and one of the biggest international competitions in visual communications organised by the German Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. The entries will be evaluated between 11th and 14th July in Essen.
As stated on the competition’s official web page, the jury consists of renowned visual communications experts from all over the world. Bruketa&Žinić OM agency has already won sixteen Red Dot awards, among which are two Best of the Best awards for the best in their categories.
To ensure objective evaluation, jury members do not take part in the competition, in other words their agencies’ or studio’s works are not being evaluated. The jury consists of designers, professors and expert journalists who evaluate the works on the spot, not via a screen, which is usually the case in such competitions. Each work is analysed and evaluated individually, according to the main criteria such as innovation, originality and performance quality.
The Red Dot award has established itself as an international platform and a recognisable seal of quality in visual communications over recent decades. This is further confirmed by the 17,000 entries from 70 countries submitted for last year’s competition.
“For decades, the Red Dot distinction has an awareness and reputation – also in rankings – which is unrivalled. This is also due to our jury, the heart of the competition. As a participant, I have to adapt myself to what the Red Dot quality determines. Thus, I need a degree of continuity on the one hand and innovation on the other one. That is why a part of the jury remains while other faces with new experiences are being added year by year. The interchange between established and new jurors always ensures an inspiring vitality and a fair judging on the pulse of time.”, said professor Peter Zec, the president of Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and the founder of the Red Dot award.
