German Design Council has published the Iconic Awards results today, with Brigada being one of the laureates. Brigada’s team has won an award in the corporate interior category for the economic and creative office space concept for Bruketa&Žinić OM agency, in Zagreb’s Zavrtnica, a former toilet paper factory.
The Iconic Awards is the first neutral international competition focused on the interaction between architecture and design as disciplines, considering their integration in the urban, cultural and economic context. Besides the building itself, details, materials, furnishings and the way a space conveys a message are equally important to the Iconic Awards jury.
The awards go to iconic structures which are the result of balanced interaction between different disciplines. Some of the previously awarded projects are the St Moritz church, legendary Issey Miyake’s Tokyio store, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the acclaimed Russian pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2012, artistic bus shelters in the Austrian village Krumbach, BMW’s brand store in Paris, King’s Cross station adaptation in London etc.
The competition’s organizer is German Design Council, a 60-years-old institution promoting an integrated design approach, founded by the German Bundestag and financed by the German industry.
Jury members are representatives from the fields of architecture, interior design and brand communications such as Dr. Louise Kiesling, designer and Volkswagen’s board member; Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk, JOI-Deisgn CEO who’s clients are some of the biggest hotel brands like Hilton, Sheraton, Kempinski, Westin, Hyatt and others; Andrej Kupetz, German Design Council president and a member of the European Design Leadership Board and others. Iconic Award’s media partner is Dezeen.com, the most popular online architecture and design magazine.
