Brigada nominated for Bernardo Bernardi award

Brigada has been nominated for Bernardo Bernardi award with The Culture of Smoking: From Taboo to Taboo exhibition in the Croatian Academy of Science and Arts’ Glypthoteque. The award is given every year to the most successful achievements in spatial design as part of the Croatian Architects Association yearly awards. The award winners will be pronounced during the Annual Exhibition, with the exact dates still to be announced.

The Culture of Smoking: from Taboo to Taboo exhibition, curated by Igor Zidić and Feđa Vukić, already awarded with the most prestigious international design award Red Dot, interprets the phenomenon of smoke in the gallery space, by completely altering the space itself. Playing with the idea of taboo, Brigada’s team designed an anti-exhibition – a display that hides the exhibits even from the museum itself.

The Bernardo Bernardi award bears the name of the architect, “Viktor Kovačić” lifetime achievement award winner, whose professional activity left deep marks on designing for architecture, especially on the affirmation of product and interior design. By choosing his name for the award, the goal was to emphasize the possible scope of architectural creation and to stimulate excellent work in the field of product and interior design.

Together with Brigada, the nominees are Studio UP and Damir Gamulin for Boutique Hostel Forum in Zadar and a group of authors for Labin City Library.
