Cannes Lions, the largest International Festival of Creativity, has announced the names of its jurors, and this year Croatia will be the only country from the region to have its own representatives.
This year’s festival will be held from June 17 to 21, and Croatia will be represented by Ivan Golubić (Associate Creative Director, Bruketa&Žinić&Grey) in the Print & Publishing category and Sean Poropat (Chief Creative Director & Co-Owner, Studio Sonda) in the Outdoor category. Their task will be to curate projects to be shortlisted for the competition.
The global Shortlisting Cannes Jury line-up includes leading experts from across 75 markets, and according to the Croatian Association of Communications Agencies (in Croatian HURA): “The progress of the entire Croatian communications and creativity industry is reflected in an increased number of foreign assignments, international awards and membership in the juries of international competitions. The industry’s renaissance is also reflected in the Communications Days, once a gathering place of local experts, and now one of the leading regional events attracting the audience by the quality of the content provided by some of the top global experts.”
Bruketa&Žinić&Grey, Imago Ogilvy, Studio Sonda and EssenceMediacom are the only Croatian agencies to have won the Cannes Lions to date, considered to be the most prestigious global award in the creativity industry, and this will be the third year in a row showing that Cannes Lions recognizes the quality of Croatian creatives by inviting them to sit on this Festival’s expert jury.
“This great recognition is a clear reflection of the continuous effort invested not only by us and our agencies, but also by the overall Croatian advertising industry, which, primarily owing to the HURA’s effort and engagement, is positioning itself as a relevant stakeholder on the global stage,” said Ivan Golubić.
Simon Cook, CEO, Cannes Lions, said: “Our Shortlisting Jurors play a fundamental role in the Cannes Lions judging process. This talented line-up of industry experts will bring us one step closer to defining the creative benchmark on the global stage this June. I’d like to extend my gratitude for their hard work in curating the work that will go on to be awarded and recognized at the Festival this year.”
