The group biennial exhibition Time Space Existence organized by the European Cultural Centre (ECC) was opened on May 20 during Venice Biennale Architettura. This prestigious show also features the AI Anxiety Meter by Croatia Insurance, Bruketa&Žinić&Grey and Go2Digital, by invitation of the organizers.
The AI Anxiety Meter is thus recognized as a current answer to the questions that the exhibition explores such as our relationship with time and space, and the emerging expressions of sustainability and ways of living, ranging from the environment and urban landscape to technological and digital innovation.
The Anxiety Meter consists of unique interactive citylights with built-in cameras and AI-powered software. The passers-by can use these unique digital ads on the city streets to gauge their anxiety level so that the cameras and software scan and analyze their facial muscles. Within a few seconds the AI Anxiety Meter shows them their anxiety level, as well as a personalized message on the screen, if applicable depending on their findings.
The AI Anxiety Meter was designed with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of taking care of mental health, in the wake of a mental health study conducted in Croatia during the pandemic and after the earthquakes which suggested that 50% of Croatian citizens struggle with anxiety. Consequently, Croatia Insurance was the first to run such campaign ever on the DOOH network, in real time, to measure the citizens’ anxiety levels. The most stressed respondents were referred to a free preventative check-up at the Croatian Polyclinic in Zagreb.
The AI Anxiety Meter is a project with multiple international awards won at prestigious competitions such as Cannes Lions, MIXX Awards Europe, Art Directors Club New York, Campaign Tech Awards, Cresta, Epica, Effie, The Drum Out of Home Awards, Graphis, IdejaX, SoMo Tech, including the recently held Rovinj Days of Communications, totaling as many as 17 awards won to date. The Anxiety Meter was covered by over 300 media outlets worldwide including Insider, Associated Press, CBS, Market Watch, as well as organizations like Merrill – a Bank of America Company and Washington Psychiatric Society. It was included among the world’s best creative by the reputable magazine Contagious.
“We are proud that our Anxiety Meter was invited to be featured among the best global solutions addressing today’s burning issues, one of which, without any doubt, is mental health. The AI Anxiety Meter is an attestation to Croatia Insurance’s continuous commitment to risk prevention and enhancing the level of safety in the society, promoted in all segments of our operations, including our communication,” Croatia Insurance stated.
“I would like to thank the organizers for the invitation and for their recognition of our project that creatively leverages AI and state-of-the-art technologies to warn people about the importance of taking care of mental health,” said Davor Bruketa, Creative Director on behalf of Bruketa&Žinić&Grey Agency.
The exhibition Time Space Existence brings together an international and eclectic group of architects, designers, artists, academics and photographers from more than 50 countries, and aims to re-envision new ways of living and rethink architecture in today’s context. Some of the participants are, inter alia, the Norman Foster Foundation, the Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The main theme of this year’s Venice Biennale Architettura, curated by Lesley Lokko, is the Laboratory of the Future, focused on change and raising awareness about climate change.
The admission is free and the exhibition will be open until November 26, 2023. Besides the Palazzo Mora, the exhibition is also held at the Palazzo Bembo and the Giardini Marinaressa, in the heart of Venice.
