Where to go out and eat well in Zagreb – a mobile app has the answer

International award-winning app of the Tourist Board of Zagreb, Zagreb Be There, has been updated with two new routes, “Nightlife” and “Foodie”.

The Nightlife route was compiled by a popular Croatian hip-hop musician, Mirela Priselac Remi from the band Elemental, and in it advises tourists on the nightlife of Zagreb. On the route are interesting bars and places like Art Park, Katran, Vinyl or Funk.

The Foodie route was drawn up by one of the most famous Zagreb food bloggers, Jelena Iva Nikolić, initiator of the popular Mali plac s tavana (meaning small food market from the attic), on whose route are the best places to drink and eat something delicious, healthy and homemade, like Cogito Coffee Shop, Dežman bar, Mak na Konac or Mundoaka.

Remi from Elemental explained her selection:

“I made this route with insights from the guys from the band – we wanted to present a wide range of interesting places in Zagreb, from the independent scene to the commercial, but still underrepresented places. I think you will be surprised by the amount of cultural and music content that Zagreb offers during the summer – it’s never too hot for a good concert or a beer in a cool place with good music. These are all welcome oases for summer days and nights, and we might even meet at some of them!”

«I choose places that I like myself and I can guarantee they haven’t changed to worse since the opening. Their owners create the new authentic gastro scene in our small city.” explains Jelena Iva Nikolić.

Zagreb Be There is a mobile app of the Tourist Board of Zagreb, which serves as a local insider in the pocket of visitors, suggesting different themed routes for touring the city with the help of their smartphone. Among them are some hidden, less famous attractions in the city, as well as the chance to win prizes.

The app has eight routes, each of which represents Zagreb in a somewhat different way. On the route Space Explorer are the locations of all the grounded planets of the solar system, from the art installations by Ivan Kožarić and Davor Preis. Hidden Spots route reveals the last Upper town well, or the abandoned cemetery in Jurjevska. There are also routes Classic Zagreb, New Zagreb or Arty Zagreb – the latter one was put together by well-known artists in Zagreb.

The app is free and available on Android and iPhone devices, and can be downloaded from the microsite betherezagreb.com or via a QR code on leaflets which can be found at all major tourist spots in Zagreb. The app has already won several awards, including the prize for best digital tourist promotion in Europe (Tourism & Strategy Festival, Paris, 2015) and for tourism innovation of the year (Days of Croatian Tourism, Opatija, 2015)
