Nikola Žinić took part in the program of the 17th Slovenia Marketing Conference held in Portorož, Slovenia on May 29 and 30, organized by the business daily Finance and the Slovenian Marketing Society. The title of this year’s conference was To be smarter. For effective and simpler marketing, and more than 500 marketing directors and experts took part.
Žinić and Selda Senkaya, Director of Marketing and Communications in IBM for Southeast Europe took part in the round table on the topic Simple and Smart moderated by Peter Frankl, editor-in-chief and director of the business daily Finance.
They talked about whether marketing experts are overwhelmed with the quantity of information brought to them through different studies. They discussed to what extent continually researching each idea and re-checking the conclusions made was a hindrance, whether information overload is killing intuition and whether innovative ideas can really come out of consumer research. They touched upon whether consumers are satisfied with what is already out there just because they cannot imagine something different or more innovative. Another subject of discussion was just how good ego is for business:)
